Bordeaux & Arcachon – Road Trip – Part 1

Dearest Colleagues!

We hope you have enjoyed watching our live vlogs on our Instagram and Facebook stories. To accompany our stories, I have created this blog for you to immerse yourselves and share our experience & ideas. We are confident that we will take you on a great journey with the first day of our Incentive Road Trip through Bordeaux & Arcachon!

Additionally, to our Social Media stories and this Road Trip blog, we brought Niels Dercksen from Ndsigned on this journey with us. Niels created incredible videos with all the highlights per day from which I am confident you all want to check out! Day 0: Amsterdam – 10th of July 2020

Today we started our Incentive Road Trip at 22.00 hours taking the very well packed campervan by Raymon with the four of us. We (Raymon, Niels, Harm & Dash the BIG chocolate Labrador and Travelmediate mascot) are the names on board of this FIAT Knaus Traveler & are all excited to hit the road.

Time to drive and discover the incredible incentive destinations; Bordeaux, Arcachon, San Sebastian, Bilbao & Lisbon! The schedule is quite tight (± 3 – 6 hours per destination) but we will try to do as much as possible and inform you as well as we possibly can!

Day 1: Bordeaux – 11th of July 2020

After a long drive, some coffee, food and Dash his pee breaks we arrived in Bordeaux. The first “WOW” starts immediately driving over the bridge of the Garonne River and when you see the historical ‘Skyline’ of Bordeaux Centre. BEAUTIFUL!

In the center we met our guide Marianne, which we can highly recommend for Marianne’s…. personable/ knowledgeable/ friendly nature. We started with a short walk along the picturesque streets of Bordeaux where you can find very nice local boutiques, restaurants & houses. Close to the river we picked up the bicycles to discover the old town and the river banks of the wine capital of France. The stunning highlights we have discovered (and which you have seen in the highlight movie above) are The Monument aux Girondins, The National Opéra, InterContinental – Le Grand Hotel, Place de la Bourse & Porte Cailhau. Day 1: Arcachon & Cap Ferret – 11th of July 2020

Only 1-hour drive from Bordeaux you find the ‘hidden gem’, Arcachon & the Peninsula Cap Ferret. When you have longer than 1 night in ‘Vin Walhalla’ we highly recommend to discover this amazing incentive destination! This Atlantic seaside resort gives you a completely different experience and the combination will bring your trip to a different level.

Arcachon is the biggest village on the coast in the Basin of Arcachon. This basin is filled with brackish water and yes you can guess, a lot of oysters – YUM! Go for the local experience as we did and hop on the fishers boat to discover the basin and the local villages around it. We arrived in Le Canon, which is located on the Peninsula Cap Ferret, here we walked through the car free part of the village looking for the local Dégustation Huîtres spot.

After amazing fresh oysters, shrimps & Rosé (from Bordeaux of course ;)) it was time to hit back to Arcachon. Here we had some time to discover the vibe and accommodations. Unfortunately, we did not have enough time to discover all that Arcachon & Cap Ferret has to offer, but we are happy to inform you more! Please let us know  ☺
